Hi Folks, Here is how the marketplace works.
The marketplace is designed to accommodate a wide variety of healthcare and wellness goods and services. While goods are priced by the item, services are priced on the rates of the individual provider, regardless of their profession. This makes it easier for customers to compare costs between individual providers, and even between professional categories.
The three determinants of the service rates are:
- Performer - was the service performed by the provider (P) or their surrogate/assistant (S)?
- Timing - was the service scheduled (S) or unscheduled (U)?
- Location - did the service occur at the provider's location (A for appointment), the customer's location (V for visit) or virtually (C for call)?

The associated three letter code will be used not only in the marketplace, but also on the vendor's claim and the customer's statement, identifying for all, exactly what service was performed.
Some examples of these codes in use:
- An appointment at a physician's office -- code PSA for provider scheduled appointment.
- A home visit with a physical therapist -- code PSV for provider scheduled visit.
- A webinar-based cooking class with a dietician -- code PSC for provider scheduled call.
- An urgent trip to a medical provider for treatment of a laceration -- code PUA for provider unscheduled appointment.
- A community emergency medical services (EMS) triage at the customer's home -- code PUV for provider unscheduled visit.
- A secured electronic messaging between a provider and patient -- code PUC for provider unscheduled call.
